Brokeback Mountain - 8.0

Crap, I wrote this review yesterday, and somehow managed to delete it today.

Basically I think Brokeback is a very good movie, and despite the obvious surface differences, I see a lot of thematic similarities to Ang Lee's other great movie, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The best thing about Brokeback is that it manages to thrive in the face of incredible scrutiny. Any moderate slip-up would've torpedoed this movie, but only one scene comes off as awkward ("Jack Nasty",) and the rest of the film is heartfelt and believable. It's one of the best movies of last year, and deserves whatever Oscars it wins.
