Lost Season 6 Premiere

I think I'll faux-twitter as I watch the Season 6 premiere(s) of LOST.
  • First things first, as long as all 3 stories converge by the end of the year (and I think they will), I like the new non-crash timeline a lot!
  • That said, the underwater tracking shot at the end of the opening scene was Cheeeeeeeeeee...eeeesy. Weak sauce.
  • Apropos of nothing, Hurley talking to dead Jacob is pretty sweet!
  • A nice job introducing Charlie by hiding his face for the first 5 seconds and making me think they couldn't sign him to be in the episode.
  • Kind of wishing Juliet was dead right now honestly. Angry Sawyer is a lot more fun.
  • Hey, wish granted! For an episode or 2 at least, I bet!
  • OK, done with the first half ... Maybe episode 2 will head to the back half of the plane and we can get some good Paolo and Ana Lucia action in. Seriously though, I'm a little bummed we didn't get to see Claire, Michael and Walt on the plane, but other than that, episode 1 was pretty sweet - definitely hope they continue following that timeline in LA. Interested to see what is next. So far the time lines rank: 1) Plane 2) Lock/Smokie 3) Post-Nuke
  • Nice. More with the plane folks in the 2nd half.
  • Crazy monk clan anyone?! What the what?
  • I do believe Miles has a little bit of a muffin top. Also, I think the term muffin top is great.
  • I know we've seen him before, but I can't for the life of me remember who the translator with the Monks is. Lostepidia after the show ...
  • Heh, the head monk just bitched Jack. Also Post-Nuke world just got one whole hell of a lot cooler. Then again crazy monk tribes that apparently like to drown people for shits and giggles make everything one whole hell of a lot cooler. I'm pleased.
  • Nice to see, Claire.
  • "You're the monster." - "Lets not resort to name calling." - heh.
  • Dude, if they restart the damned love triangle now that Juliet is dead I am going to be pissed the hell off.
  • Not sure why it took me this long to realize Post-Nuke and Smokie Locke were on the island at the same time, but obviously they are. Duh. Jacob saying "I died an hour ago" was pretty clear (although you never know with times in this show).  Anyway, that's cool I guess.
  • Jack remains an obstinate bitch. Oy. And Sayid is alive. No big shock there I guess.
  • So, all told, that was a pretty bad ass set up for what should be a very interesting final season. I'll go read all the write-ups now, but I am fully in the "That was great" camp - Not quite a top 10 caliber episode, but it got the ball rolling towards a few of those - that's for sure.

PS - I recognized translator guy as Sol from Deadwood. He's never been on LOST before as far as I can tell.

I don't think Sayid (real Sayid) is alive. My first thought as it happened was the Man in Black/Smoke Monster was taking over Sayid's body (my theory going way back to season 2 that the Smoke Monster can take over the bodies of dead people looks to be right btw... pats self on back) ... there was some pretty clear symbolism with the MIB (as Locke) walking past real Locke's dead body, then an immediate cut to Sayid waking back up. But after reading the message boards and stuff, I think it's more likely new Sayid is Jacob. If the MIB can take over bodies, why can't Jacob? This would set up as a pretty badass Jacob/Sayid vs. MIB/Locke showdown.

My biggest question is how the two timelines they have going now will connect (plane/LA and the island). The theory I actually thought of while watching the show is that the plane/LA timeline is the afterlife to the island timeline - this would explain dead Juliet's 'it worked' comment to Miles. Not sure if I like the idea and I doubt it'll happen but it's a thought.

And a theory I read online that I like is that it isn't really a battle of good vs. evil between Jacob and MIB but a battle between free will and determinism (which has obviously been a theme the entire show). This would work better with the past where the Others (who presumably Jacob has some control over) did some terrible things, like gas the entire Dharma Initiative.

Oh yeah, it seems like Richard might've been a slave on the Black Rock. And they basically provided an answer for why he doesn't age (the fountain of youth).

That's all I can think of now. Pretty sweet episode. Only would've been better if they had brought Eko back (though I'm glad Des is around at least).

I'm with you that it isn't a strictly good/evil fight, and also buy in to Sayid=Jacob.

My current theory is that Crazy Monk Island is the future for both Post-Nuke world and Regular-Lost world and that a bunch of stuff is going to happen in LA that leads all of them back to the Island on the Al-Jazeera flight.

Also wondering where this leaves Desmond, Penny and little Charlie --- I guess they are just chilling off the island in Regular-Lost world. Wonder if we'll see that storyline again ...

Should be an interesting few months.
